The 4th of July is only a few days away, and as we figure out our Independence Day plans, I’m thinking about what to wear! My very very best friend and her husband are coming to St. Louis for the weekend so I am super looking forward to quality time with them. They are coming in on Thursday and we are having a BBQ at our house, so I’m thinking something casual will be appropriate. I think there is always the temptation to dress in red, white and blue and look like an American flag, to be super American. But there are ways to dress in a festive way without wearing something that Betsy Ross constructed.
1. White shorts. They are very summery and just happen to be one of America’s colors. Pair them with something red or blue and you’ve got 2 of the 3 colors without looking too obvious.
2. Navy/white stripes. There are few things more American looking than a nautical navy and white or ivory stripe. Pair with jeans or with a bright pair of shorts!
